Wasn't it Beautiful! Snow in Texas on Christmas

I can't think of a nicer surprise than snow on Christmas. Having lived in the mid-west we were used to snow on Christmas but in Texas it's a rare treat which I have seldom experienced in the 30 years I've lived with my family here in Allen, Texas and never on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. We make snow ice cream with snow, milk and vanilla. Kids old and young love it.

What did you get for Christmas that you were not expecting? My hb bought me a beautiful new Bible by Joyce Meyer! She has written notes of summary and explanation throughout the chapters and the print is large enough for these old eyes to enjoy reading the word. She has Life Lessons throughout as well. I have always admired her gift with words and this Bible includes her unique way of helping us understand the meaning of this beautiful text. I'm looking forwart to using it in Bible study next year. All my best to everyone. Hugs Kat

It's supposed to snow here tomorrow!

In Texas we don't get much snow. This year already we had snow and tomorrow we are to get an accumulation. It will be great for the kids. And perfect timing with tomorrow being Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to you and yours.Hugs. Kat

Great! Now on to Christmas

Hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We were blessed to have our Nephew Andrew and his wife Sarah and three children,Abbott,Mabel and Fred down from Montana over while they were visiting Sarah's Father in Wylie. They took the kids to see the dynosaurs at Heard Museum in McKinney. Sent us pics of them riding the monsters. They make noise and everything. The dynosaurs that is.

Thanksgiving's here. Already!

Christmas is just around the corner. Slow down world, I want to get off! Have you been feeling rushed more than usual? Time slipping by? I have. I'm having the time of my life with my hb, Gary. We ride our beautiful red Yamaha mororcycle everywhere! It's for long trips and is cushioned for comfort. Tonight though seemed like deja vous. I was preparing the turkey and the dressing, the jello salad and the pies. We have been going out for holidays since our kids left home but since last Christmas our son has been back with us. He always loved the real holiday meals. So it's back to tradition again. And it felt nice. Sipping the egg nog as I was working in the kitchen was great. Our son coming out to the smell of the preparations and ooing and awing. Our pups were also taken by the scents. I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. If you have a loved one in the Middle East, I pray they are safe and can come home soon safe and sound soon! I was fortunate that our children were brought home safely during Dessert storm!
God bless you all and yours. Best wishes, Kathie

What a Beautiful Day

First chance to mow and rake leaves for a couple of weeks. Sun was out and temperature was perfect. Seed from trees filled a bushel basket. Leaves too.I planted 76 bulbs for spring. The paperwhites (daffodils)I put in two pots are actually coming up.All the rain and good soil (Miracle Grow)must have been good for them.

Hard to believe November is just around the corner.I'm working on three projects one getting ready for a Thanksgiving challenge and two items for the shop holiday category. Also doing three bible studies. One has two weeks off so I can relax a little. The Beth Moore "Living Beyond Yourself" is almost over. Two more weeks left. It's been such a wonderful class I hate for it to end. I told you it changed my life. And I'm calling ticket holders at Garland Civic Theater to remind them of the date and time of their tickets for Harvey. Last week of show. Neglected posting with all that is going on. Looking forward to Thanksgiving. Nephew and wife will be in Wylie visiting Sarah's father. Plan to get together. Hb taking nine days for Thanksgiving so we'll be traveling some too. Hope weather is nice. Hope you all are busy and healthy. Hugs. Kat

We went to an Octoberfest in Southland near Grapevine(google for directions)

It was perfect weather for their activities. They had a Dachshound (?)race! There must have been at least 50+ dogs dressed in colorful coats. There were other breeds too. The little breeds challenged the bigger ones every now and then in a loud exchange. The booths were varied and unique. The local police were friendly and seemed to enjoy the event. My hb enjoyed a brot on bun with mustard. I had a spicy sausage on a stick. I've always loved fall festivals. The small town ones we used to frequent when our kids were little. Hope the weather holds for the festival today. Tell me what events you've enjoyed lately. Hugs, Kathie

I'm getting ready for the holidays.

I just finished an ornament for a Day of the Dead, "Dia de los Muertos"challenge on Etsy. It's a skeleton, "calavera". I'll have it up soon along with my pumpkin hand towels and Autumn colors runner and napkins. The colors are rich and warm for fall. My favorites. I hope you are enjoying the season and creating for the holidays. I'd love to hear what you are making and how this season delights you. Do you have any "urges" from your heritage that you can't resist? Remember, these are law abiding urges we're talking about. LOL, Kat

Time to plant bulbs.

At this time of the year my desire to get into the earth and plant for the spring is so strong I can't resist it. Thanks to my parents I have inherited some very stong urges in life. Planting is one and mowing is another. Try though I may I can't ignore these two urges. Good thing I don't have illegal urges, right?

I got some beautiful tulip and daffodil bulbs. I planted many yesterday while the rain was at bay. I have to admit I enjoyed digging and cleaning the soil putting the young bulbs gently in their bed and covering them with fresh soil and food to prepare them for a winter nap. Today I hope to finish planting. It's sprinkling now so hopefully my new plantings are getting needed refreshment.

Beth Moore has a Bible Study in David that I want to share with all of you out there. "Anointed, Transformed; Redeemed" I went to a class last Wednesday evening. The video was amazing. It was in a big sports center and the crowd was overwhelming. Along with Beth were Priscilla Sherer and Kay Arthur. Sponsored by Life Way biblical products, the message was dramatic as usual. Beth shared here fear of heights and large crowds. She said she had made a conscious decision to choose God's desire for her to speak that evening instead of giving in to her fears. She said,"So I got on a plane and flew way up high and here I am standing before this huge crowd." Isn't God wonderful? He gives us a mission and he gives us the strength to face our fears so we can accomplish our task for His glory.
We are so blessed to have people like Beth in our lives. I pray she continues to have God's blessing on her teaching. We really need her today in the world. God bless you too. Hugs,Kathie

Tonight was fun!

I was House Manager at Garland Civic Theatre tonight. Small crowd due to rain. But "Harvey" was a big success. It's the best kept secret in Texas, The theater that is. All volunteer actors we have some of the very best! And I'm not biased. Other people who have been around agree. Braving the storm the mostly season ticket holders came out with thumbs up. The show is on for 4 weeks and has performances Thursday thru Sunday. Located on 5th street at the Patty Granville Arts Center. Call 972-485-8884 for times and ticket prices. Tomorrow night is opening night. Big crown expected! See ya there. Kat

Do you know about Beth Moore?

I just found Beth Moore and her wonderful bible studies. I wasn't a church goer when I was a child. So I never really read the bible. Like many people I couldn't get past the list of begats in Genesis. Beth Moore writes for women and she introduces you to the whole bible right away. I didn't even know where the books were. With an NIV(New International Version) bible she guides you through daily life challenges using bible verse to back up all of her lessons. If you haven't really been inspired by any of the classes you've had on the bible, try Beth. She'll change you life. She has mine!Maneagable daily (5) lessons there are many workbooks to choose from. Mardel Christian stores keep them in stock. Bought in groups for classes can get a discount. Individuslly they're $20.00 for 10 weeks 5 lessons per week. Really worth the investment. Beth writes clear intelligent material that makes you want to get up in the morning and do a lesson. I find myself drawn to bible study even when I have to do my projects for the shop. So I do the lesson first and I'm ready for the day.
The peace you get is amazing. Not one for confession, raised in the Methodist church when we did go, Beth tells us God needs our confession daily. He forgives us and when we thank him for forgiving us,necessary for God's annointing, He fills us with the Holy Spirit for the rest of the day. "The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control". All in one person, you. I invite you, no urge you to take a lesson at your church or on your own. DVD's are available around 45.00 for the set of 5 for each workbook. Get some girls together at someone's home and sit back and be amazed by what the Lord has in store for you! No need for a teacher the course is going over the material each week. There is a teacher's manual. The leader is a facilitator. Leads the class in prayer and prayer requests then asks what we learned in the unit for the week. The one I am in is Living Beyond Yourself. Something all women need daily is in this course. You can see Beth Moore on the Robison show each Wednesday at the beginning of the show for about 15 minutes, channel 262 Angel, or on the internet google Beth Moore go to tv.

Sorry to go on so but it's that great. It will change your life day to day! Have a great day. Hugs, Kat

Why a Blog?

I'm thinking how cool it is to have a place to get things off my chest, so to speak. Not seriousely bad things. Like I  paid my electric bill early as always and several weeks later I got a disconnect notice with a 22.00 fee for the disconnection.I call and talked to three people with no help. The fourth said she would ask to have my payment returned to my account. She saw it had been put on a closed account that owed fees. She stopped the disconnect although I continued to get threatening calls from somewhere but not connected to the electric co. and who had only that I owed blank dollars and would have my electric cut off by the 29th. Today!
I called one more time to be sure all was straightened out. I was told what my new bill would be on another call and this time it was 22.00 more. They still charged me the fee. I got a Supervisor through some miracle, they only return calls when they feel like it. She straightened it out when I insisted she could wave it. My electricity is still on. There is a God! Good night and keep it safe out there. Hugs,Kat
I just noticed I mispelled elsewhere in my heading. I don't know how to edit it yet so please bear with me. Thanks, Kat
